Disconnected Guinness

The crew from UWL took this amazing surfboard to the Euro Fish Fry in Ireland.
It's one of the most insane glassjobs I ever saw, a tribute to one of the best things to come out of Ireland, Guinness beer!

Fish Fry 2009???

O European Fish Fry foi um evento marcante para os amantes deste design. Num mesmo local, ali mesmo no habitat natural de uma prancha, a praia, shapers, surfistas e curiosos trocaram impressões, discutiram teorias e acima de tudo, partilharam.
Entre todos os participantes destaco a presença do DJ Kane, um "miúdo" com shape de gente grande! Além de um fantástico shaper, o DK é uma pessoa muito acessível e sempre disponível para prestar qualquer esclarecimento ou trocar ideias.
Depois não podemos esquecer a equipa Lokbox, em especial o Jim Robertson. Pedi-lhe que instalasse os fins na minha Hynson e ele prontamente acedeu e deu-nos uma verdadeira aula sobre o sistema Lokbox.
Finalmente pude conhecer pessoalmente o Alex da Barrel Surfboards e admirar o seu excelente trabalho. Foi pena não haver ondas para experimentar a sua Twin Fish.
Os Portugueses... por muito bom que seja o trabalho que vem lá de fora os nossos shapers estão no bom caminho e a ganhar terreno. O Paulo Jacinto apresentou excelentes pranchas e acabamentos de primeira, merecendo bem a classificação entre os 6 primeiros e o Manila apareceu com uma Twin que deixou todos a babar, inclusivamente o Júri ao atribuir-lhe um 2º lugar.
Em ultimo lugar uma palavra á organização e em especial ao Alexandro. Foi difícil, com muitos contratempos mas conseguiste por de pé um excelente evento com um excelente ambiente! Muitos parabéns!

The European Fish Fry was a memorable event for all Fish lovers. At the same location, (right there at surfboards natural habitat, the beach) shapers, surfers and just curious, exchanged ideas, discussed theories and above all, shared.
Amongst all participants DJ Kane was the one who impressed me most. A “kid” that shapes like a big boy. Dk is more than a amazing shaper, is a humble guy always available to chat with everyone and talk about his designs.
Then we can forget the Lokbox crew, especially Jim Robertson. Asked him to install the fins on my Hynson and he gave us a full lesson about Lokbox fins and installation.
Finally I met Alex, from Barrel Surfboards and was able to see in person his fantastic work. Too bad there weren’t any waves so I could try his Twin Fish.
The Portuguese crew… the boards coming from the US might be the best ones around but our shapers are on the right track and gaining ground. Paulo Jacinto presented us with a amazing collections of Fishes (and some great longs also) with first quality glass jobs and he really deserved to be between the best 6 boards of the event. Manila, from MSD designs, came up with a Twin Fish that left us all drooling, including the judges that gave him a remarkable 2nd place. At last, a word to the organizers and especially to Alexandro. It was though, with a few set backs but you put together a great event with so many stoked people. Congratulations!

Home made Fish Fry

Hoje, Domingo realiza-se o European Fish Fry na Costa da Caparica.
Ontem em minha casa organizei um pequeno Fish Fry, na companhia do Rui e mais tarde do João. Passámos uma bela tarde á conversa sobre pranchas e a admirar as fantásticas Hynson BKQ ás quais se juntaram outros dois bons exemplares de fauna marinha, uma Pavel Superbank e uma Lufi OldSchool.
Boas pranchas e boas amizades em redor de algo que nos apaixona, as pranchas e o Surf.

Today, Sunday, the European Fish Fry will happen at Costa da Caparica.
Yesterday I organized a small Fish Fry at home, with a couple of friends, Rui and later João. We had some good time chatting about surfboards and admiring those amazing BKQ and the other two that joined them, a Pavel Superbank and a Lufi Oldshcool.
Great boards and good friendships around something we love, surfboards and surf.
