Quando falo da Hynson Surfboards tenho focado a minha atenção nas suas Fish, em especial na Black Knight Quad. Resumir o trabalho do Mike Hynson a isso é como desprezar parte da história do surf moderno. Mike Hynson foi um dos mais influentes surfistas e shapers dos anos 60 e 70, responsável por algumas inovações como os Down Rails, fundamentais em qualquer prancha moderna. Mike Hynson trabalhou com a G&S, Yater, Weber, Bing, Hap Jacops, David Nuuhima, Hobie, Gerry Lopez, entre outros, e foi um dos fundadores da Rainbow Surfboards em 1969. Mas Mike Hynson não ficou preso ao passado e continuou a trabalhar em novos designs, oferecendo hoje uma variedade de modelos desde Big Wave Guns até pequenas Fish sem esquecer a clássica Red Fin.
Mike Hynson é um verdadeiro artesão, shaper apaixonado pelo seu trabalho e dedicado a R&D, não apenas aquele surfista fantástico que vemos a deslizar nas ondas de Cape St. Francis no filme Endless Summer.
When speaking about Hynson Surfboards were focusing my attention on his Fish boards and in particular, in the Black Knight Quad. Resume Mike Hynson work to just that it's like throuing away a important part of the modern surfing history. Mike Hynson was one of the most influent surfers and shapers of the 60's and 70's, responsible for some innovations like the Down Rails, essential in any modern surfboard. Mike Hynson worked with G&S, Yater, Weber, Bing, Hap Jacobs, David Nuuhima, Hobie, Gerry Lopez, amongst others, and founded Rainbow Surfboards in 1969. But Mike Hynson didn't get stuck on the past and kept working on new designs offering today a wide variety of models from big wave guns to small Fishes and we can't forget his classic Red Fin.
Mike Hynson is a truly craftsman with a passion for shaping and R&D not just that amazing surfer gliding at Cape St. Francis in the movie Endless Summer.
