Since a few weeks ago I’ve been collaborating with the new Drift website, posting there some of my interviews like Jeff Mccallum or Carl from Es-cent-ial. This time I wrote something more personal, exclusively for Drift. For me it’s an honour to have my texts on Drift side by side with Tom Wegener! That’s Cool!!!

Kookumber

The last one that really captured my attention is this Kookumber, shaped by Dave at Almond Surfboards.

The Green Quagg

O Correio trouxe uma bela surpresa para começar o fim-de-semana, a Mccallum Quagg do F.
Tenho de confessar, é a prancha mais fantástica que recebi até hoje. Simplesmente incrível! Apaixonei-me pelo outline e pelos rails. Deve ser fantástica numa boa parede. Aquele tail pede para nos atirarmos a uns tubos, sair em velocidade e fazer uma curva cheia de power atirando água para todo o lado. Estou a sonhar! Jeff, também quero uma!
O Jeff sabe o que faz, não há curvas erradas, transições suaves e pormenores incríveis.
E a UWL também está de parabens, a laminação está perfeita, sem qualquer falha. È provavelmente o melhor pigmento que já vi. Bom trabalho pessoal!

The mail brought a really nice surprise to start my weekend well, F. Mccallum Quagg.
I must confess, it’s the most amazing surfboard I ever got. Umbelieveble! I immediately fall in love for that outline and those rails. Must be amazing on a good wall. That tail push us to get some barrels, get out flying and make a power turn throwing water everywhere! I’m dreaming. Jeff, I want one!
Jeff really knows his way. No wrong curves just soft transitions and amazing details.
And UWL also did an amazing work. That glassjob is perfect, no faults. Probably the best tint I’ve seen. Great work guys.
I want to try it.

Wavegliders & Magic Quiver

Nas últimas semanas tenho falado muito da Wavegliders. As pranchas justificam toda a minha atenção pela qualidade do shape e acabamentos, mas há uma ligação entre mim e a Wavegliders para além disso.
Foi com muita honra que eu aceitei o convide do Nico para fazer parte da equipa Wavegliders, tendo a meu cargo as vendas e marketing/promoção. È muito estimulante fazer parte de um projecto destes no qual trabalho no sentido de desenvolver a marca mas também onde tenho a oportunidade de discutir as minhas próprias ideias e conceitos com o shaper e ver aplicados alguns deles nas novas pranchas. O Nico tem muita experiência como shaper de shortboards e essa vertente da performance reflete-se nas pranchas mais clássicas da Wavegliders. Mais do que fazer pranchas bonitas, fazemos BOAS pranchas de surf cujo objectivo é serem muito eficazes na água, não embelezar a sala de casa! Somos uma equipa pequena mas coesa e com objectivos bem traçados. Sabemos que temos um longo caminho pela frente mas acreditamos que com muito profissionalismo e dedicação, chegaremos lá.

During the last weeks I’ve been talking a lot about Wavegliders. The surfboards deserve all my attention for the shape quality and glassing, but my connection with Wavegliders goes beyond that.

It was with great honour that I accepted Nico invitation to join the Wavegliders team and be in charge of Sales and Marketing/promotion. It’s very stimulating to part of such project where I will work to develop the whole label but also a project where I can discuss my ideas and concepts about shape and even see a few of those been used on some new surfboards. Nico has a lot of experience has a shortboard/performance shaper and that reflects in to the more classic shapes from Wavegliders. We don’t do surfboards that just look pretty in your living room; we do GOOD surfboards that will perform well on the waves. We are a small team but a solid one. We know that the road is long ahead but we believe that with work and commitment we will get there.
