Board #1

Today I've started to build the shop. Remove old floor, wiring, garbage... Next week it will start to get a new look.

So it's time to tell more about the shop and what you will find inside it.
I'll start with a surfboard (what else!!)

First (for no particular reason) it's a beautiful 5'11 Quad Fish by Josh Hall. Board features a full tint in some kind of rusty orange, a shiny polish, and Lokbox plugs.
Shape came out amazing, with perfect volume distribution, nice rails and Josh performance bottom contours, with enough vee to make your rail to rail transitions easy and fast. One of the best Quads I've seen from Josh.
Glassing by Blend Glassing and as always, flawless!

Rich Pavel in Europe

Rail: Rolled down Rail with lots of edge in the tail
Rocker: Low entry and tail rocker
Bottom Contours: Single concave to double barrel vee carried off the tail
Type of Waves: Good in all waves waist high and above


Josh's comments: This board is the super charged version of the J Hall keel fish. Same outline, totally different performace charecteristics. The quad fins allow you to really surf more aggressively and the vee plane helps with tighter turns in smaller surf with out the side slipping effects that keels can have Removing the keels and adding four fins also increases speed due to four times the amount of flex, allowing a surfer to generate tons of speed with every bottom-top turn combo.

Josh's comments: This is my version of Skip’s long fish. He built my first long fish for my birthday in 2003 and this is where it has led me. I’ve added my own flavor to the spice by using the fish simmons bottom on it which shortens up the turning length of the board by adding rail rocker and with out losing any drive. Tons of glide, paddles extremely well and allows you to surf more aggressively in smaller surf than than other long fish.

Grey DK

Após alguns dias de férias com a família e algum surf á mistura, estou de volta e trago comigo a nova prancha do Jorge, uma linda DK Double Bump Quad 6'0 com um pigmento cinzento.
A prancha ficou fantástica, com o cinzento tal como o cliente pretendia e excelentes acabamentos ao nível do melhor que se faz na Califórnia. A BoardCulture trabalha muito bem e o Cyril sabe o que faz com as resinas, mesmo quando os clientes são picuinhas!!!

After a few days home with the family and some surf, I'm back and brought with me Jorge new board, a beautiful DK Double Bump Quad 6'0 with Grey pigment.
The board came out great, the colour is just like the costumer wanted and quality is at the same level of those coming from California. BoardCulture works very well and Cyril knows his way around resin, even when costumers are too picky!!

Conheci o Joe Clams, ou melhor o Joseph Falcone, no final de 2007 quando visitei a Mollusk Surfshop em Nova Iorque, onde ele trabalha. Passámos algumas horas á conversa, junto com o Nuno, sobre as pranchas expostas e sobre o surf em NY. A Mollusk é uma fonte inesgotável para os apaixonados pelo surf e pelo design de pranchas. 4 Horas depois eu tinha aprendido muito sobre os diferentes designs e tinha ficado a conhecer alguns dos shapes do Joe, em especial as suas Stubbies ao melhor estilo d o Manuel Caro da Mandala. I’ve met Joe Clams (to be correct its Joseph Falcone) at the end of 2007 during my visit to Mollusk Surfshop in New York, where he works. Spend a few hours talking, along with Nuno, about the surfboards exposed at the shop and about the surf around NY. Mollusk is a never ending source for all surfboard design lovers. After 4 hours I had learned a lot about surfboard design and Joe had showed me some of his boards, specially the Stubbies inspired by the work of Manuel Caro from Mandala. Since then been following his work through his blog http://throughtheeyesofaghost.blogspot.com/
Joe is a cool guy and a talented shaper with a bright future ahead.
